Guidelines - updated for 2024

1) *NEW* Each poem may be up to 60 lines, beginning with the first line of text below the title. Count all stanza breaks and spaces. *NEW*

2) *NEW* Maximum line length is 70 characters, counting all letters, numbers, punctuation and spaces.

3) *REVISED* No identifying information should be submitted in the poem submission. Names, addresses, acknowledgements and bio should be included in the cover letter only, so screening editors and the final judge can be impartial.

4) *REVISED* Poems must be original, unpublished in ANY medium, print or electronic. Do NOT submit AI-generated poetry. Editors have the right to disqualify all poems submitted by a poet if there is any question of previous publication or AI authorship.

5) The top 25 or so (Special Merit or “finalist” poems) go to the final judge, who chooses the First, Second and Third prizes. The editors then choose Honorable Mentions.

All Prize winners, Honorable Mentions and Special Merits are accepted work, to be published in the Fall/Winter issue.

6) If you choose simultaneous submission, we require that you inform us in your cover letter, and let us know immediately if the poem is accepted elsewhere. This applies only up to the moment it is selected as a finalist. The Comstock  Review reserves the right of first refusal for all accepted submissions.

7) Poems may be submitted online through Submittable or by U. S. mail.
